Diploma in Quantity Surveying with distinction, Diploma in Construction Health and Safety Studies with distinction, Post Graduate Diploma in Arbitration, Higher National Certificate in Building Studies, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Member of the Association for Project Safety.

Profile

Peter Marchant has worked in the Construction Industry for over 30 years, the majority of which for major regional construction companies in Director, Senior Management and Surveying/Commercial positions, with some experience in a Chartered QS office.

Peter was born in South Wales, and began his career as a trainee Estimator/Quantity Surveyor working for a regional contractor. During that time, Peter commenced his academic training at the Llandaff (now UWIC) and Rhydyfelin (now Pontypridd) Technical Colleges, on a part time basis, thus attaining real world working experience whilst undertaking necessary applicable further education. Later qualifications were gained at College of Estate Management Reading.

Most recently, Peter worked as Deputy Managing Director for a South Wales based Construction Company with particular responsibility for estimating and precontract matters, and as Main Board Director with responsibility for Systems and Health and Safety group wide, with overall group turnover in excess of £80 million. Here he gained over 20 years, a wealth of practical knowledge and experience in main contract and sub contract dispute management and resolution, as well as all commercial activities required to enable profitable and risk assessed growth from embryonic beginnings. He also masterminded the introduction of systems to achieve ISO 9002, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and PAS 99.

Peter is therefore able to use that practical knowledge and experience to provide realistic advice to clients, whether in non-contentious matters or relating to their disputes and problems.

Peter specialises now in Construction Law and dispute matters, including provision of legal advice, vetting of contracts, warranties, insurances, management of representations for the Referring or Responding party in Adjudication, claim preparation whether quantum or time analysis, along with Quantity Surveying .
