Qualifications

Scott is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) and a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). His academic qualifications include a first class Degree with Honours in Quantity Surveying, a Masters Degree in Construction Law & Arbitration; and Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Scott was awarded the RICS National Prize for outstanding performance and to be later followed by an award from Hammonds Solicitors for best performance by a graduating student (from the MSc Construction Law and Arbitration).

Profile

Scott has a varied background having worked in private practice, for major building and civil engineering contractors, international contract advice and claims consultancies and a solicitors specialising in construction law and dispute resolution. He has experience variety of projects and clients in various industrial sectors within the United Kingdom, consisting of civil engineering, building, process engineering and power generation.

Scott is a very experienced legal and contractual advisor with his particular strengths being in the analysis and interpretation of construction contracts, drafting terms and conditions, drafting pleadings and submissions in adjudication and arbitration proceedings together with representation in adjudication and arbitration proceedings. Scott also has experience of enforcement of adjudicators’ decisions and seeking court declaration (under Part 8 of CPR). In addition, Scott provides commercial and contractual advice and assistance to Architects, engineers, employers, contractors and sub-contractors including in the preparation and appraisal of claims in relation to breaches of contract or common law, variations and delay/ disruption. Scott also lectures on construction contracts and construction law.
