LLB (Hons) Degree in Law and Philosophy; Bar Vocational Course, Inns of Court School of Law and called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003; Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Profile

Ryland has over 5 years’ experience of the legal profession and construction industry, and for the most part has been in Taiwan acting as in-house counsel to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), advising on a range of legal matters relating to the multi-billion dollar Taiwan High Speed Railway and other projects worldwide. Ryland worked with Japanese, Chinese and expatriate lawyers, consultants and engineers, and represented MHI in a number of ADR proceedings, including several Conciliations before eminent Mediators.

He was also responsible for insurance matters arising under the Taiwan High speed Railway Project and assisted a member of Keating Chambers in an Arbitration before Queens Counsel.

Before this, Ryland spent a year in London as an intellectual property adviser for a leading sports photography company and a further 6 months specialising in costs with a London based solicitors.

Since joining Alway Associates Ryland has been involved in the investigation, management and successful resolution of contractual and commercial disputes in respect of construction projects around the UK.

In addition, he provides services including the drafting and review of pleadings and contracts, legal advice and advocacy.
